WebCulwick, Florence (1877–1929), director of the Culwick choir, was born 4 November 1877 at 21 Upper Lesson Street, Dublin, the daughter of James Cooksey Culwick, professor of music, and Mary Jane (née Richardson), his second wife. Florence was educated at Alexandra College, Dublin, excelling at music which she later taught at the school. WebIt is unusual in so far as it is the only Irish classical music label active at the time. The label issued a number of records during the 1970s by Irish composers and musicians such as Seóirse Bodley, Gerard Victory and Brian Boydell. Many of these are now rare and hard to find. The Company was dissolved effective 31/07/1987.
